Hornets get some Dime Love today.

Plus, a nice feature on Yahoo the other day. Someone over there must be drinking the Kool Aid, because they’ve got the #1 ranking too. They had it up on the front page Wednesday with the headline “On the Geaux.” Aw. See how they did that there.

I am endlessly amused by Ball Don’t Lie’s Bedlam tournament. As they say:

Day five of our completely pointless, albeit oddly entertaining, BDL Bedlam Tournament. Thanks to your help, we’ve compiled a list of 64 things that you may or may not love about the NBA and seeded them into four regions. Today we unveil the final eight match-ups of the first round. Voting will remain open until Sunday.

One of today’s matchups is #5 Seed CP3 vs. Deron going up against #12 Seed the Golden State Warriors crowd. I really wanna see Gilbert Arenas’ sweater vests go up against Jamal Crawford’s magic rock

The Hornets have sole possession of first place, thanks to the Lakers losing to the lowly Bobcats. I thought I’d been drinking too much when I saw that score. Rockets, Lakers, and Spurs are all tied one game back from the Hornets. The bad news: the Hornets have the Celtics up tonight, and those other guys are playing the likes of Memphis and Minnesota.

And TNT loves CP3. Well, Chuck does anyway.

  1. The Yelling Guy says:

Wow, Kobe is only 1 technical foul away from a 1-game suspension. Time to put the gris-gris on his happy ass. Not the kind of thing you’d expect from the MVP of the league huh. I mean if you’re in the locker room, watching your team lose to the Bobcats, because you got tossed for arguing calls, how valuable are you anyway?

My reasoning on why CP3 should be MVP:

I’ve heard this stuff about Kevin Garnett changing the culture of the Celtics. Thats why he should be MVP. No knock on KG, because I love the dude (not tonight though), but try changing the whole culture of a community. In the beginning of the season, this is what we heard from both the national media, as well as some local media outlets as well: “This will always be a football town.” or “The Hornets will make a 2 or 3 year stop in New Orleans, but there is no way they will be accepted by the fans there, and they’ll leave.” The 1st comment is true; this IS a football town. At the beginning of the season you could reserve your own section at New Orleans Arena. Things have changed since then. Well i’m here to tell you, this team, and one 22 year old kid in particular, has done more to prove all those pundits wrong that anyone could have imagined. Chris Paul has taken this team and this entire community on his back and carried us so far that all that talk about the Hornets leaving seems like ancient history.

It’s true that the MVP should be measured by what you do on the court. CP3 definitely has the resume to be a legit contender, no doubt. His influence and success however, extends far beyond the confines of a basketball court. He is a symbol for the resurrection of this city, and he is an example of perseverance and leadership both on and off the court. THAT is the true measure of value.

  2. Unlike a lot of Hornets’ fans, I’m actually a huge Kobe fan. I think he’s an amazing player and it will be a travesty if he ends his career without an MVP, considering most analysts have considered him the best player in the league the last five or so years. And even as much as a week ago, I thought it was his year. But as CP’s been coming down the stretch like a maniac and Kobe has faltered a little without Pao, including this unforgivable loss to Charlotte, that vote has changed. Plus, CP is 5-1 against Lebron, Kobe, and Garnett/Pierce. That speaks volumes. The kid just finds ways to win, and is putting up mind-boggling numbers as he does so. It’s hard to justify saying Steve Nash deserved his two if CP doesn’t deserve it this year, when his accomplishments seem to surpass Nash’s.

  3. WELL SAID.

Chris Paul is just… I’m willing to bet there are people who’ve never watched basketball who he’s singlehandedly made believers out of. And that is amazing.

I mean, shit, he’s made such a believer out of me that I was still standing there thinking it was possible for the Hornets to come back against the Celtics on the road last night. They’re giving out free T-shirts at Bruno’s and I’m still standing there watching the TV. I think it’s the first time I’ve felt like that, instead of like, “K, it’s over.”

But look at the games in the last 2 weeks, and you can see why.

  4. Outstanding story it is without doubt. My friend has been waiting for this update.

  5. You made some nice points there. I did a search on the subject and found most people will consent with your website.
