You might say the fans were slow to embrace the Hornets. You may say the Hornets organization had a lot to make up for after Oklahoma City. But as we stepped out of the arena after the Hornets’ 99-94 series clinching win, the first thing that greeted us was the sound of a brass band… and a big crowd gathering for a second line, dancing and waving towels around. I thought, “You got something right.”
I love New Orleans. I love the Hornets.
Quote of the Night: “But Bonzi can’t be without his headband. He’ll lose his ninja powers!”
Runner-Up:
The lady next to mW: “Um, I think you might need to go to anger management after this game.”
mW: “No, I’ll be fine if we win.”
Chant of the Night: So there was a fan in 118 who had a sign that said “Stop the Flop” and had a picture of a stop sign and a #41 blue jersey. They put it up on the jumbotron just as Dirk was shooting free throws after a particularly flailing flop, and the crowd just picked it up and ran with it. “STOP THE FLOP! STOP THE FLOP!” Awesome.

I had two sets of thundersticks and both got murdered. “STOP THE FLOP” will need to be used whoever finds their way to New Orleans.
Looks like we’ll be playing the spurs from what I see, they are a totally different team in the playoffs so this will be our first real challenge
First we beat last years best team(record wise)
Then we beat last years champions(spurs)
Then we beat the best ranked team in the west(lakers)
Then we beat the best team this year(celtics)
Then we are champions
Haha, stop the flop is great. Looks like we might wave that against Ginobli?
We play Saturday! Time to be determined.
Great night. And to top it off, Charles Barkley just predicted we’d beat the Spurs. You heard it hear first.
Charles Barkley jumped on our bandwagon after we won game one against Dallas. His prediction makes no difference, much like every analyst. Self-belief in our team!
BTW, glad to see skimpy ladies in pic two. Told myself years back to nab a wife who’s a Hornets fan. Class optional, I suppose.
My sentiments exactly. We did indeed Mess With Texas.
Spectacular. Chris Paul is a genius with the rock. All I got to say is Former Hornets Jamal Mashburn’s comment that the Spurs are going to clench the series is wrong. Stojakovic and Horry, who’s got better 3ball? PEJA. I’ll bee there on Saturday May 3rd. GO HORNETS!! Love the website btw.
Mark – I heard Barkley is now on the bandwagon for the Hornets to take out the Spurs… for the next five minutes anyway. Oh, and the skimpy ladies are Honeybees.
Haha. Niiice. I remember reading about one of the Honeybees (for research, I swear!) and she’s some sort of a bio major. Hornets fan…me being a science major. I think you can insinuate the rest, har har.
But seriously, I don’t think the Mavs ever had such a big party after our playoff runs (probably due to our recent consistency of getting into the playoffs). Glad to see a young team win!
