B Scott chills in a t-shirt at the press conferenceAccording to the Times Picayune, he had seven days to accept or reject the contract extension offer the Hornets had on the table. They’re reporting he accepted today. Smart man. But we all knew that.

It was hard to imagine him leaving the team he built, especially for the messes in Phoenix and Chicago. His new deal will up his salary from $3.5 million to $5-6 million. So we can all breathe a sigh of relief… well, a mini-sigh. We’ll save the big sigh for when they lock up CP3.

Byron will not leave until they win a few championships, and they will win a few.

I’m still inclined to say that he does not deserve to be paid that much money. He’s been a good player’s coach during his tenure during NOLA (as evident by the practice reports), but I haven’t seen much actual play-making outside of CP.

It’s hard to imagine Byron wanting to leave this team. It’s a great team, built just how he wants, and locked down for the next several years. Not many coaches could want much mroe.

I can only imagine the agents, lawyers, and team officials trying to hammer out this agreement. George Shinn already stated Byron would get whatever he wanted. The Hornets know there’s no way he leaves. Not much leverage on either side. Perhaps, in this crazy uber-capitalist world, the two sides just sat down and hammered out a fair deal? Crazy…
