but then there is the fact that Peterson wanted a starting position, and may put out a season like that of Rasual Butlers 07/08 season if he is moved to the bench

The PG situation definitely needs watching. And yes, I do anticipate a trade and/or FA signing of Maggette to relegate Mo-Pete to the bench. However, if they could then get Pargo signed, as he claims to want, that leaves a second team of Pargo, Mo, Ju-Ju, and Hilton, potentially adding Ely, Bowen and/or Birdman, at the 4. That would be sweet.

I'm not too worried about Butler. He's proven to be an effective player and if not us, then I'm almost certain he'll sign elsewhere. Now I don't know the whole situation behind Butler (especially what Coach Scott said... hmm), but according to 'waving a gun... and cocking the hammer back', that action is dangerous and potentially ignorant, but I hope nobody innocent was hurt in the process more importantly.

To be honest, I'm not too sure about Corey Maggette. He's very much a starter-esque player, so would we he be switching spots with Mo Pete? But team chemistry aside, his stats would appear to bolster our roster (especially given mW's proposed trade. We hardly used both to their abilities) and provide us with some much needed physicality and defensive presence. Plus, look at that guy's muscles. They're so ripped and just bulg... um, ah... ahem.

We need to be careful about our 1 spot though if said trade goes through. Pargo just opted out, so he's going to renegotiate (even if elsewhere) for more, and Maggette ain't cheap himself, this being his last year at ~8 mil (according to HoopsHype). While the $$$ works out, it leaves Chris Paul and Hilton Armstrong as our primary ball handlers... and we all know how Big Hilton is with the ball, hehe. Sigh, I guess I can come out of retirement and play one last year... y'know, just for the sake of helping the team. Jeff Bower, just gimme the word. I don't even a name on the jersey.

That would be a great result for us and a not bad result for the Clips, and possibly a terrific move for Rasual. I like it for the Hornets and Butler because it means his contract still has value and he can reboot his considerable talent in a new environment. I'd be a little concerned that the LA market is too harsh and/or distracting were it not for Dunleavy at the helm. He seems like a great personality coach and could help Rasual if he is having troubles. And Mike James for that matter. Heck, maybe Ely would go too and we could play Andersen back into some form.
How sweet could Maggette be on Chris' wing...

I think it's great that so many are being supportive of Rasual. I too think he's bound to bounce back next year, though it remains to be seen where. With the Hornets reportedly targeting Corey Maggette now, the Clips Nation blog is hoping such a deal might include a sign and trade for Mike James and Rasual here: http://www.clipsnation.com/2008/6/28/560996/hornets-targeting-maggette. That would be a win-win for both teams. They get two talented players, who if playing up to their potential are worth their money, and if not, well, they got something for losing a player for whom they could have gotten nothing. Rasual would get his fresh start. And we, of course, would get Maggette. Just rumors at this point. But damn.

Rasual Butler is a great player who had a bad season, people forget that the season before this previous one he was a pivotal player so he deserves to be treated like that. Also if the Hornets truly became a family then why would they turn on one of their own without finding out any evidence that he actually did anything. We all make mistakes(just ask Chris Andersen) so we all deserve a chance to go through the system and see what happens. I still think that Butler could turn it around and be a huge part in the Hornets system. If we could get him playing the way he used to a bench unit with him and some of the more energetic players on the roster would be amazing.
