As far as throwbacks go, I don't want to see "Charlotte" on any of our players chests.

And that picture of the court being ripped up is horrible.
I would've set myself on fire if I were a Sonics fan.

According to the Seattle Times, not all the Sonics' employees are so psyched about the move to OKC:

Yeah. I'm really not sure why the Hornets don't wear throwbacks. Granted, the whole trend is pretty much over now, but I would love to see them sport them for old times sake. Is it because we're indecisive over whether to get the New Orleans Jazz jerseys or Charlotte Hornets jerseys? Hmm...

I keep waiting for the hornets to bring out a new jersey. They should start wearing some throw back jerseys from the charlotte days every once in while.

I've always found this an intriguing (read: frustrating) subject on dividing the landscape of the NBA. Unholy Great Leader Stern has expressed much interest with screwing over teams with travel accommodations (see Finals 2-3-2 format and how that screwed the Mavericks; not including D(Wayne)-nut-riding and illegitimate calls), and this certainly doesn't help with the Leastern Conference. This puts even more strain on traveling to Portland (being the lone team in the Northwest). Las Vegas, Master Stern?

Personally, I love the green-(varsity?) yellow colour-scheme, especially since it's such an uncanny colour for their gear. Now on the other hand, we need to do something about our own team's yellow alternate jerseys. Bring. Back. The. Purp.

Condolences to the original Supersonics fans. They never had a chance after the Glove left.

Ticktock and I have talked about this a lot. Personally, I blame Starbucks owner, Howard Schultz, for selling the team to Clay Bennett. Seriously, did anyone in their right mind think Bennett, who had already tried to woo the Hornets to stay in OKC would do anything other than bring the team to OKC? Please. Plus, Stern had already called out the entire city and state for not supporting the team. At least the city sounds like it will get to keep the name, colors, and history.

As for the division switch, not likely as of next year. There are 15 teams in each conference and each division holds 5 teams therein. Likely that the OKC team will stay in the Northwest. Even if a new Seattle team is introduced years later, there is no guarantee of a move. If you think about it, it's not a bad fit, geographically, other than the "Northwest" label. Minnesota, Utah, Denver, Portland, and then OKC. Although, yes, it would have been sweet to be enemies with them intra-divisionally.

Thanks for the link, Eric. But I don't know. Black and gold are fine with me as long as they don't come off looking too much like the Wizards' third jerseys.

That whole situation was just shit honestly, their new owner planned on moving the team from the start and stern let it happen of course. We need to replace him because he is becoming very shifty, from the referee scandal to the selling of a dynasty like the sonics, they may not be one of the best teams in the league but for people who grew up watching the nba the old days with gary payton and shawn kemp were the days and now this is like basketball blasphemy. Why not just move the bulls to oregon or something, this is just ridiculous and everyone involved who allowed it to happen should be castrated with a wooden cooking spoon, there I said it.

Won't the nba have to move teams around to have the same number teams in each division? or will the southwest just have 6 teams now?

Oh, it's not too late for them to steal something from us:

http://newsok.com/fans-favor-black-and-gold-colors/article/3242649

They want to use black and gold as the colors for their new NBA team. That's not such a big deal in itself, but this article is hilarious, and the circumstances around using black and gold are, too.

>>"It's just different,” said Moody, who designed the black
>> and gold "Oklahoma City Barons” jerseys

Different? Those are the Saints colors... but yeah, the Saints are a different sport in a different league...

>> But unlike the Pittsburgh Steelers, whose team colors are
>> athletic gold and black, the color scheme used for the
>> popular Barons design is varsity gold and black, closer to
>> the shade found in Notre Dame and George Washington's
>> school colors.

Uh, so wait, we _are_ taking into account other sports and leagues. Why mention the Steelers when, uhm, isn't there a team that has the _exact_ same colors? Oh yeah, the Saints.

So why would they choose these colors? Hmm.

>> "The reason I (chose black and gold) is because I named
>> the team the Oilers, which is black gold,” McGinnis said.
>> "So I thought that was appropriate colors if they're named
>> anything relating to the energy industry. I just think they
>> look good together.”

Yeah, John Mecom thought they looked good together too OVER FORTY YEARS AGO when he made the Saints' colors black and gold for the EXACT SAME "black gold" reason.

Fuck Oklahoma.
