Good write up of the new logos/uniforms and the many trite complaints about them. The only thing that doesn’t thrill me about the rebranding is the updated Hugo logo. As you mentioned yourself, I’ve never been a fan of the cartoony mascot-based logos. They worked in the early 90s when I was a kid, but I think we can leave them in the past, locked up somewhere with Skip It and slap bracelets.

I’m a huge fan of the move to turquoise (I just lost a bit of my masculinity). I always thought the green-ish teal was too ugly for the team’s main color. So I’m glad the team will be sporting something that doesn’t look hideous when worn by 99.5% of the world’s population, and I’m glad we’ll still have a unique color scheme.

Oh.. and just in case you haven’t found the answer, the Knicks are the other team with the city name on the home and away jerseys.

How can you bring the HYPE is you arent wearing the newest, coolest, and bestest? Some of us more crack-addled fans feel an unholy obligation to show up at opening like that old Mervyns commercial. Its payday dammit! I need to get rid of this damn money SOMEHOW!

I’m not a big fan of the special sales they have. They have good discounts, but everyone and their mother shows up and picks over things fast. Personally, I advocate just buying thing at regular games.

You hit the nail on the head, when the team talks about “breaking away” and “going forward,” they’re saying “let’s forget Katrina and Oklahoma City ever happened.” I like that. And if they parlayed that into tweaking their logo a bit (and adding cool third one) and a good P.R. event, so be it.
