ABITA IS BACK

The Return of the Abita!

After long opining about the slow and steady decline, and the eventual death, of Abita beer at the New Orleans Arena during Hornets games, HornetsHype is proud to announce the return of Abita Beer to Hornets games.  Late this morning, a Hornets official confirmed that Abita will return as an official partner of the New Orleans Hornets, and that Abita Beer will be sold at the Arena during games.  Specifics were not available other than to say that patrons would be able to get it.

The return of Abita has been one of this blog’s main unfufilled quests, and we are ecstatic that this day has finally come.  While we reserve the right to keep it on our $h#t List until we see actual proof of our victory, we’re pretty psyched right about now.  So in return for this great honor, we expect all Hornets fans at the games to respond enthusiastically and buy as much Abita Beer as possible!

    WOOOOOO!

  2. Yes, it is awesome. I can almost taste the Abita….oh, wait, that is Abita. Never mind.

  3. Thats it i’m going to the Abita Brewery again! Free beer all day, you just got to go through a tour. mmmmmm abita ale.

    woohoo!

and I can’t believe we only have less than a month until preseason gets underway! Not that I care about preseason but that means THE season is starting!

  5. Hey I’m waiting to hear back about a job with the LAPD but once I get it I’m getting my 05 monte carlo customized…….Hornets style ;) so if you want when I do it I’ll send some pics, I’m getting a bad ass looking Hornet on the hood and the fleur de bee on the doors, it’s seriously gonna be awesome. Also if you have any other ideas to add to it let me know.(I’m not putting players names on it cause……well they might be traded then my car will be out of date)

  6. I’m gonna go find me a pack sometime to see what all this fuss is about. Austin had better stock some up when season rolls around.

  7. Mark– It’s good, but I think the point is for us that it’s ridiculous not to offer THE local beer at New Orleans arena. At the end of the year at the stand near our section there was, like, Bud/Miller Lite and we didn’t even bother buying beer anymore. Because it was stuff we’d drink for free or for 2 bucks, but it just wasn’t right to pay more for it when we used to get beers with actual flavor for the same price.

  8. I’ve heard that the Backrow was offered a contract in Europe and that it was seriously considered due to the Euro/Dollar exchange rate. Care to comment?

  9. ticktock, I’m still interested in trying the local flavour. We’ve got Shiner here, and everybody loves it for the same exact reason you stated. I haven’t attended any sporting events outside of Dallas, but I’d be appalled if it weren’t served here in the Austin area.

The whole Bud Light crap is all about the Benjamins, so it’s good to see (potentially) the little people win one. I, for one, am now on the search for local stores that carry Abita (by the way, I loved the fervent love shown for Abita by ‘hype throughout this season. That’s dedication).

  10. @ $nave: our offer was really just in the wrong location. Had it been Italy or Greece we would’ve been there in a heartbeat…

  11. @ Michael: If you put fleur de bees on your car, I will TOTALLY post those pictures!!

  12. Hey, HEY!!! HOLY SH*T! ABITA!… It would appear we won the battle, but the war is far from over….. Next step, make Abita the official beer at Buzzfest!!!

  13. Mikey– I daydreamed about that this weekend. That would be perfect.

Give the people FREE ABITA KEGS!
