Hornets Hype

grassroots growing strong

I love David West as much as the next person (shit, probably more than the next person), and it is true that he had a 21-12 night in a teeth-gritting loss to the Lakers… but. What’s an easy way to make people forget that? Oh, right, being responsible for more turnovers than any 3 players on either team added together.

I now present an illustration:

StarDestroyer Escape Pod Shooter Dude #1: There goes another one.

David West: Hold your fire. There’s no life forms. It must have short circuited.

Ineptitude… When you do your job perfectly all your life, and then drop the ball in those pesky clutch moments.

  1. I just have to ask what kind of training is Posey doing because that man is hitting his threes while our other two shooters continue to struggle from outside the arc, Peja I love ya man but you need to spend a week hanging out with manu ginobli or something and work on more parts of your game because the three ball is way too inconsistent. Early season thing that I love this year is that CP3 is not hesitating to take the shot which is what people were begging of him last year so we finally got it.

  2. The odd thing is Peja is 6-10 and can drive, and when he does, he invariably gets an and-1 and makes the free throw. But I just don’t think they practice it or run plays along those lines. But it surprises the hell out of teams when he does it. Same thing with Mo. I wish they’d realize the 3s aren’t falling early and do something besides relying on CP to mix it up a bit. CP’s game last night + Peja and Mo being on instead of off… I think they could have pulled it out, honestly.

David West must read the blogs, though, because after the complaining about how he doesn’t dunk this year, he threw down two. One particularly nasty. :-P

CP was legendary last night. So I stole Niall’s word. But he was.

  3. Well they lost by seven so if DWest could’ve limited to turnovers and if they converted on those trips they would have won. Sad to think how close it was and if just a few things were different then that would’ve won us the game. CP was awesome last night but out of respect for his game I have to say damn Dwight Howard had a triple double with blocks and 19 boards(sure it was against the thunder) but still. Okay sorry just saw that and had to comment but yeah Posey needs to share his magic three ball knowledge with Peja and Pete or they need to drive when those threes aren’t falling. I say after two missed threes they should drive twice and then try again or something of that sort.

  4. The funny thing is the numbers are a complete lie this game. We got beat badly except for the 4th quarter. Sure we got close once, but then Kobe slammed the door in Posey’s face. This team needs to learn how to play four fucking quarters.

  5. I just ranted on 48 minutes on ‘247, mW. I’m in utter accordance with your statement.

ticktock, I too am really surprised when Predrag drives… it’s just never been in the scouting reports, nor will it ever be. But at the same time, I think Predrag is surprised himself when he drives. Don’t think I’ll ever forget his, what, 3 misses from point blank against the Spurs last year.

It’s like *dribble dribble* *drive* ‘oh wow, I’m at the rim’ *miss*

Which is why I’m a huge advocate for players like Mike Miller. His bread-and-butter is shooting bombs, but the man is capable of at least putting it on the floor. Plus that headband is just so sexy. And after Ely denounced his ‘fro, we could use a little of that.

  6. saltandcarbon says:

@Mark – Do not rest until we land Mike Miller! I’m with you dude.

I now can’t help the feeling that Juju needs to spend some time shadowing CP in practice to run the second unit.

  7. For the love of god, why can we not see more of JuJu???

  8. Too bad Ju-Ju apparently sucked at point forward in the Summer League. Imagine if somehow he could play point, a la Magic Johnson? Let him run with Rasual, Posey, Bowen/Ely/Marks, and Hilton? Oh well. I’m still in love with Ju-Ju. No, you heard me. Not a man-crush. I love him. I have no problems sharing my true feelings.

  9. During the offseason we kept hearing how DWest always adds one or two things to his game, Unfortunately this year he added hesitation and turnovers.

It pisses me off that the Lakers defense will get credit for “holding” our boys to such a low percentage, when the misses were mostly wide open shots. Peja, DWest, and MoPete. Peja seems to have a problem hitting shots at the beginning of big games.

Would some stat geek please compute for me the percentages for our first versus the second free throws? Chandler in particular seems to have missed about 7 front end shots while making all of his back end shots.

  10. I noticed that at the game. It’s a pattern he’s held to for awhile now. TC almost invariably misses the first shot and hits the second.

  11. saltandcarbon, unfortunately our dreams may never come to fruition due to the imcompetancies of the Minnesota Timberwolves organization (and under-the-table-KG-trading), but we’ll be front-line advocates for “NO for Mike Miller”. Wait, that sounds bad.

Noticing CFRM bricking the first too. What happened to his desire to show off his ranged shooting? I recall a video of him talking about its development, but when will it become a viable option, if ever? It would really help our team, possibly even drawing a double team if he’s consistent. It’d be Kevin Garnett-esque… *shiver*
