Quoth Mr. West: "Rrraawwwrr!"

Quoth Mr. West: "Rrraawwwrr!"

Of  the week, that is.

David West was just named the Western Conference Player of the Week after averaging 30-11 in his last three games. D-West has been all-around beasting in many scary, dangerous ways since the All Star break. We know Chris Paul gets these kind of awards all the time, but I can’t recall West getting one and seeing him get recognition makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

So, just a friendly warning, you might want to step out of his way. He’s kind of a big deal right now. He has many leatherbound books… as well as an attitude, lotsa tats, and a chip the size of the state of Arizona on his shoulder.

Yes, Arizona. Exactly that size.

  1. Awesome! Congrats, David!

  2. Not bad… for a cheap shot artist!

I kid. Not about the cheap shot part, but about actually caring about the cheap shot. West has been tearing it up.

Just another reminder to all those sleeping on the Hornets that our starting five, when healthy and on their game, is as good as any in the leauge. Our injuries and Peja’s lack of 3-point production have made people forget. If somehow we could get Armstrong and Wright to play with West’s sustained determination and warrior mentality we would be unstoppable. The last game has me concerned about West’s health and excessive minutes. He was in obvious discomfort at the end of the game. We need about 40% from 3 for 5 whole games to build some leads so West and CP3 can rest just a bit.

In addition to beastliness, we also should give credit to West for his intelligent approach. He has consistently adapted his game to what is working for him that night. If jumpers aren’t falling he drives to the hoop. If the layups aren’t dropping he draws contact. If he’s getting blocked, he moves out to assassinland. Richly deserved honor, Mr. West.

  4. DWest has us all on notice. He might show up to your work and shoot a 17-ft shot, then out-hustle you for a rebound and throw down a dunk. Just watch out for basketball goals; he’s gone nationwide.

  5. Da-duh-da-duh-da-duh, uh. Yeah.

  6. YoungFella says:

David West – my favorite Hornets player and the namesake from which “YoungFella” came. That’s what Gill used to call him during his rookie season.

  7. I didn’t know that… Tyson Chandler is part of my name. Hee. And I’m still marveling over the way events have played out this month… ’cause I wouldn’t change it to Ticktock-anything else.

  9. Michael says:

So looking ahead I think it would be great if we could pick up either Smith or Gooden to finish up our reserves that would give us one more veteran player both with lots of experience starting that could give us the depth we need……if those cheap asses are willing to sign anyone else or maybe they just want to see what we can do with what we have. If only we’d be like the cavs or celts and try to make a legitimate playoff run but who knows.
