  1. Blrghggghghghhg. Not a good game all around.

  2. The school of officiating where the one team has 5 fouls with 8 minutes left, on quick ticky tack whistles.. and then the other team gets whistled for the next 6 or 8 straight to “even” it up NEEDS to go. I predicted instantly when the Nuggets racked up fouls early that that was exactly what would happen.

    And wish I wasn’t right.

  3. For the record, the calls were HORRIBLE on BOTH sides. It wasn’t even necessarily biased, just horrible. Uneven, Erratic. Tick-tack here, no-call on a hack there. No player on the court had any idea what to think. Which, of course, led to several easy lay-ups, because players were terrified to make contact of any sort, despite the fact that basketball is A CONTACT SPORT. That, by the way, DOESN’T show up on the scorecard.

The refs who called this game should be ashamed. Not because they threw this game, which, despite all my neutral rhetoric so far, they did, but because they disgraced the game with their pathetic excuse for professionalism. For each call they fucked up, they made two make-up calls. How the hell do you play through that? On either side? Bottom line? They cost us 10 points. Bees bricks cost us another 10. We lose by 20. Fuck Stern.

  4. I was worried this morning when I saw Bennett Salvatore would be one of our refs tonight. Derrick Stafford is a clown too. It’s sad that I know these clowns names as soon as I see them. I missed tonight’s game and I’m glad I did. Listening to you guys I’m pretty sure you’re telling the truth about the calls.

  5. Looking at the boxscore…. when the hell will Posey show up again? The boxscore doesn’t look good but how was his defense? That doesn’t show up in the boxscore which is why I’m asking. Lately I’m feeling like dude is starting to steal money from the team.

  6. I wish our team was healthier.

  7. If we were 100% healthy I really believe we are 1 or 2 in the Conference. But with a team designed to our particular strengths, well, we suck with players missing.

  8. @Mo

His D was poor, to be nice. He came in to try and slow down Melo, didn’t really do much, then got pulled as Melo’s cover. Overall, J.R. and Melo just burned us to a crisp.

    @mW?

#1 in the Conference? Though I am fully on board for #2, so why the hell not.

  9. Matt - Storm Surge says:

The Nuggets radio announcers were agog at the foul calls. Kept saying thing like ‘CP superstar fouls’ when he drew contact, but they couldnt believe some of the calls on the other side either, so they said the officiating was evenly terrible.

  10. @ Matt: exactly.

  11. It is never a good sign when the AP recap starts like this:

“NEW ORLEANS (AP)—Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul got tangled up away from the ball and crashed to the floor.

Paul was whistled for the foul and the crowd booed, while Anthony, lying on his back, shook his head and laughed in disbelief that the call had gone in his favor.

It was a good omen for Anthony and the Nuggets, who had most things going their way in a game they desperately wanted to win.”

  12. Make-up calls are some of the stupidest things around.
Different game, but the Jazz/Suns last night. There was one play where Grant Hill drove in, and Alvin Gentry thought he was fouled. So he kept yelling at the refs. The next time down, Nash grabs Millsap’s arm and pulls him along the endline of the court, and ‘Sap gets the foul.

Two rights don’t make a wrong. I don’t know why refs think making a bad call to make-up for another bad call is a good idea.

Oh… another stupid thing… when a ref behind the play, who obviously can’t see anything, blows his whistle because he (or she, I guess) assumes that something happened. Let the guys that saw the play call it.

  13. NOEngineer says:

We have a hard time playing thug ball, especially on nights when DWest is giving up in the paint. We get punked by Utah, Boston, LA, and now Denver. We have no bulky big men that can fight back without making the obvious foul. We don’t have a big man that can finish through hard contact. We don’t draw the body contact (other than CP3 and sometimes Posey) when we can.

Also, when we miss 5 free throws in a row at the beginning, the refs get pissed off at us and stop calling fouls for a while.
