… We Meet Again

By ticktock6 on April 20, 2009

Tell me what y’all think of the following excerpt:

I’ve said it before and I will continue to say it — Chris Paul is a punk. Paul personally instigated the chippy play Sunday night with his antics. Paul not only flopped continuously but had the nerve to get an attitude with both the referring crew and the Nuggets players. And how Carmelo Anthony was called for a foul when Tyson Chandler veered sharply and ran Melo over, I’ll never know; to say the officiating in the Denver New Orleans game was spotty is being kind.  In this series the scenario is this: if Paul is feted and treated like an untouchable, the Hornets will upset Denver. If the refs officiate the game as it happens and not as Paul or head coach Byron Scott say it’s happening, Denver wins.

Sigh.

Uh, did any of you notice the officiating in this one being particularly in the Hornets’ favor? I certainly didn’t. I think the Hornets got screwed because the more physical team was allowed to be physical with them and they weren’t physical enough back (NOTE: This is not the refs’ fault). Which, as we know, is familiar because it’s the pattern in our big stack of Jazz losses too. Yeah. I’m sure the physical play of a team known for physical play is solely the fault of the guy on the opposing team who’s under six feet tall. And also, in case he didn’t notice, the Hornets lost! Which kind of ruins his whole argument. Not to mention the fact that during games Byron Scott shows the approximate emotional range of a clam. I’m not sure what coach he’s watching.

And then I remembered this was the douchebag who, in like the first game of the season, accused the Hornets of getting post-Katrina pity reffing. No, I am not making this up. He’s the internet’s foremost Chris Paul hater. It hit me like a freight train of deja vu: “I’ve made fun of this guy before, haven’t I?”

And guys, this one hurts. Because my New Year’s Resolution this year was honestly, I promise, to try to use alternate words in place of “douchebag,” because I feel I am guilty of overuse. But what am I supposed to do? Dude is a douche.

So, whatever, Ball Don’t Lie. I don’t think you should be quoting people like this. He’s clearly got a bias against Chris Paul (said in November, and I quote, that people who think he’s great are “guilty of worshipping false idols” !!!!). Not to mention trivializing a national disaster that we happen to take pretty seriously around here. (Edited to Clarify: I am not saying CP isn’t a punk on the court– he is– but I think people should know these are the words of a serial CP-hater, so they can choose to take them with or without a grain of salt!)

Move along, there’s nothing to see here…. except an archaic genital hygiene product.

  1. Whichever assclown wrote that, f*** him and the horse he rode in on.

    @Mo

    X2 cause youre right.

  3. Listen, I get CP hating by other teams as long as it comes with some repect. Lots of people hate on LRJ or Kobe, but you have to respect how dangerous they are as an opponent. The thing with CP you’ll notice is that he rarely flops where there is no contact, like some people do. He just gets fed up with no-calls and maybe accentuates other contact.

Were there bad calls last night on both ends? Yes. Did Denver get the best of it? Yup. But what really worries me was the Hornets’ reaction to it. They looked like they did last year in San Antonio. The best teams play on regardless if what refs call. We need to do that next game.

  4. I agree mW. You can’t allow the refs to take you out of the game no matter how hard they may try. You gotta come out and punch adversity right in the mouth.

  5. Correct. It’s been this team’s biggest fault. Get frustrated and too talky instead of getting physical back. And I mean REALLY physical back. Don’t get mentally sloppy and garbage foul them, hard foul them when you send them to the line.

  6. Not going to lie, CP is a dirty player in my opinion, but he’s dirty in the fact that he exploits the defense/offense and nothing can counter to stop him when he’s ready.

I don’t recall the Nugs to have any serious floppers (I don’t keep up with them, obviously), but it’s pretty ironic when fans of teams as the Jazz complain about CP flopping. Sure there’s a speck sawdust in my eye, but there’s a damn log coming out your eye.

  7. Deron Williams flopped hard yesterday afternoon. Like CP, his team still lost. But I think the problem with being a shorter guy (they’re both pretty stocky, so I won’t say small) is after 3 straight possessions of being clubbed in the head en route to the basket, you really can’t be blamed for trying to accentuate contact. I guess what I’m saying is CP takes a lot of abuse down there, and it probably evens out.

  8. I consider dirty players players that attempt to hurt players. CP does not do this. Yes, he had that college incident with Hodge but he doesn’t purposely try to hurt players. That in my opinion is what “dirty” players are. CP is indeed a smart player though. Especially for his age.

  9. stormsurge says:

Chandlers CLEAN pick of Melo was the highlight of my night. And I dont dislike Melo. Just was funny, him turning around and running RIGHT into a brick wall.

    lolz

  10. ticktock6, CP tries to MAKE officials make calls they should be making in the first place.

  11. Well, it’s like saying Bruce Bowen is dirty (not comparing the two, but merely the definition). Bowen, for the most part, is just pesky and plays legitimately (aside from his highlighted ‘trying-to-injure-other-players’). He’s great at frustrating the other player without intentionally fouling, but he’s always going to be labeled for his jump-kicks into Sczerbiak’s face antics.

CP does flop, but there’s generally enough contact to instigate such response. What I think is probably the situation is that CP’s so good at maintaining balance that when he trips up it’s accentuated by all the times he ISN’T hit to the ground.

  12. stormsurge: Generally the defense is vocal enough to call a pick for awareness, so either they didn’t do their job well, or Melo just got unlucky. It’s not like it was a blindside open-court pick.

Hope Melo is okay, but it was a legal, hard pick.

  13. Yeah, I know that’s the call Denver fans are pointing to, but Melo honestly just didn’t have his head up.

  14. Hey, CP is a great player and if the only fault his haters can find about his game is trying to get calls, or flopping, then I’ll take it.

  15. Wait. Are Denver fans complaining about that Tyson pick? Melo is ok. It may have just stunned him a bit but he was ok. I’ll bet Denver fans would’ve loved it if one of their players did that to a Hornets player. Then there would be no complaining about it from them at all.

  16. Comparing CP to Bowen is insane. Accentuating contact is one thing. I.e., Dirk. To foul a person as much and as hard as you can (whether or not you are breaking the rules) just to see if it will be called, is usually the kind of escalating behavior that leads one to being called “dirty,” i.e., Bowen.

Guys who are “dirty” are usually those who end up hurting someone. For example, Kenyon Martin BROKE ELY’S FACE last year with a careless elbow. I saw Kenyon drop two equally vicious karate chops on the arms of both CP and DX last night. No need for that. Make the hard foul and move on. You do something that can break another player’s bones, then you shouldn’t be on the floor. And you’re dirty.

I don’t think the Denver is a “dirty” team or even has that kind of a rep. But Kenyon is one of “those” guys. No doubt. People say that about Posey, too. So be it. But Chris? Please.

  17. It was a comparison of terms, mW, and I did address Bowen’s extreme bahviour.

  18. AttackTheBasket says:

Why link to the douchebag? Why give him pub? Him not getting more views is the best thing possible

Morons like him should be put down so the rest of us don’t have to deal with our IQ’s suffering

  19. I agree. If you need to post a link here you go.

  20. CP isn’t a dirty player. Hes a whiny little cry baby, and one of the worst floppers in the league, but not dirty.
